Location.
Located on Elgin Street, on the ceremonial route to the Cenotaph and Houses of Parliament in the heart of Downtown Ottawa, the Lord Elgin Hotel overlooks the Confederation Park, home to many festivals. Walk through the park and reach the Rideau Canal, an all-season hub of activity, which becomes the longest skating rink in the world during the winter season. This eleven-story building, with its Normandy copper roof, is located opposite the National Arts Center, home of the performing arts in Ottawa, is a clean cut modern replica of the French Chateau style.
Hotel Features. The Lord Elgin Hotel embodies the feel of the old-world French chateau style of architecture. Dating back to 1941, the hotel provides a sidewalk bistro with a seasonal patio. Guestrooms.
Most of the guestrooms of the Lord Elgin Hotel are inspired by the Biedermier style, which emerged in Europe after the Napoleonic Wars. The guest rooms are decorated with light colored woods, warm earth tones, granite vanities, basic black accessories, assorted blends of burgundies and fabrics in blue-black tones.
